Things To Consider When Setting Up Your First Cost Per Click Campaign

Below, we look at some of the most important things to consider when setting up your first cost per click campaign

.

Cost Per Click Budget If you are unsure of your budget to begin with, you can start with a relatively low amount and then increase this at a later date. You will know within a few days whether your budget will be large enough to see you through a certain time frame or whether it really has enough in it to make it work well. If things go really well and your early CPC campaign works, you can use the extra income to increase your budget and then keep expanding in this way.

Bidding Settings It is important that you get the bidding settings spot on when starting, as if you select Auto Bidding you could end up spending more than you need to. Our advice is to always start the bids quite low, because within an hour or so the Adwords system will actually start telling you the bids you need to go to, to be on the first page etc. So, if you have a little bit of patience and are willing to work the campaign over a couple of days, you can really achieve the maximum from your campaign.

Cost Per Click Spread When running multiple adverts, it is quite common for them to share the same daily budget, so it is important to make sure you spread the cost across the adverts, with either equal focus or a set amount on each advert depending if one is more important than the other etc. If you let the system share your budget across then you might end up not having the one advert that is really important displayed very often because the system is calculating how to spread the cost across so many areas.

Keywords One of the biggest things you need to spend your time on will always be choosing the most relevant and specific keywords that you can. Although the Google Adwords system will offer you a massive selection of choices, these are based on a computer trying to decide what is best for you, and quite often some are really good, but you do need to have your own list mapped out in your mind or on paper.

Location Settings You can select where you want your advert to appear in terms of Geographical locations. So, for example, if your product or service was only for the UK audience, it would be unwise to have your settings set to a worldwide audience. With Google Adwords, you can actually choose the countries and sometimes even the counties for where you want your advert to be displayed, and this can really help remove unnecessary traffic.

Destination URL Many people often overlook the importance of sending a visitor to the right page, depending on your advert. Say for example you were advertising a particular product via your Cost Per Click campaign, it would be unwise just to direct them to the home page, you should instead send them directly to the product page to increase the chances of conversion and success.
