When looking for brand new bathroom suites, it pays to put together a proper plan of what you would like your bathroom to look like.

Your bathroom is the one room in your home where you can retreat and literally lock out the outside world. With this room being your retreat away from all of the stresses and strains associated with modern life, why wouldn't you indulge a little and spend as much as you can afford to make sure the result is truly luxurious?

Bathroom suites come in all colours and combinations, and it's easy to get carried away and go for a look that is very 'now' in terms of quirky features, wall prints and colours. But bathroom suites aren't something that you change every seasons, and so you should be looking for something that will stand the test of time as well as appeasing your taste for interior design.

When you've had a stressful day, there's often nothing lovelier than returning home and slipping into a warm bath to sooth away your worries. Creating an opulent, luxurious bathroom will allow you to feel indulged as you soak, and there are a few choices you can make to convey luxury.

Bathtub

If the space in the room allows for it, why not install a free-standing, statement bathtub? This can be placed in the middle of the room for the greatest effect, and there are many free-standing baths with bathroom suites on the market today. Choose bold, golden taps for real opulence, and place heated towel rails around the tub, so that when you step out of the warm soapy water you can snuggle straight into a soft, warm white towel; truly luxurious on a winter's day!

For extra luxury, think about having under floor heating put in. If you are looking at tiled-floor bathroom suites, you will really notice the difference if you are used to walking around on a tiled bathroom floor that is usually cold.

Shower

Spatial restriction may dictate that you have to choose between a bath and a shower for your room, and so if both features would be a bit of a squeeze, why not install a wet room?

A wet room is effectively a walk-in shower, only slightly larger. The floor of the shower is level with the floor of the room, and water drains into a plug on the floor. This type of shower is particularly beneficial for people with restricted mobility, and so if you often have elderly relatives staying with you, or are getting on a bit yourself even, a walk-in shower offers a much easier and more convenient way to cleanse.
