Things To Look Out For When Choosing Tv Mirrors
2010Things To Look Out For When Choosing TV Mirrors
A mirror TV is a great idea for hiding your huge TV screen away in plain sight, but there are a few things to take into
consideration when looking at buying one. Things to consider include the type of TV mirror glass, the lighting in your room,
mounting of your TV and thermal implications.
Always get a sample of the TV mirror glass to take home before you buy anything, this can save disappointment later. The TV
glass should look like normal glass until you hold up in front of a TV screen. When the TV is on the picture should be clearly
visible through the glass, but when the TV is off the glass should act like a mirror. The mirror effect may not work very well
up close to it so be sure to get someone to check it from a distance. Different types of TV glass are used for bathroom TV
mirrors where waterproofing is an issue.
The lighting in your room may affect how well the TV mirror works. The brighter the room lighting the better the mirror works
and the duller the room lighting the better the TV effect works. So it is better to have low lighting for the TV on and high
lighting for the TV off.
You need to be sure that the supports for your TV mirror can take the weight of the TV, mirror and frame. It may be better to
use a professional to help with installation as special care has to be taken with the installing of the mirror glass to ensure
it is the correct way around and clean (whilst you can clean the outside of the mirror it is difficult to access the inside
for cleaning!)
Another thing to consider is heating. You are effectively sealing your TV in a box, so you need to be sure that it can operate
in those conditions. It may be wise to check the temperature rise of the TV during operation and decide if additional cooling
is needed.
A mirror TV is a brilliant way of having the large screen TV but not having your room dominated by the TV.
