Things To Remember During An Earthquake

There have been many earthquakes in the last decade than there were two decades ago

. Any moment an earthquake may strike and the best that you can do is to stay safe until it passes. You will not only save your own life but the lives of other people as well if you know the things that should be done during a critical moment such as an earthquake.

It's very dangerous to be inside a building when an earthquake happens. If that would be the case, your best move should be looking for a stable protective cover and hide under it. It could either be an office desk, a table, or strong furniture. What's important is that you protect you head and your body from any object that might fall. Avoid running or moving around as you might lose your balance and get injured.

When an earthquake strikes and you're in an open field, the first thing you should do is to stay put and not run. If you're near a tall building or a tall post when it happens slowly move away to a more spacious area. If possible, look for cover that might protect you from falling debris like a telephone booth or a shed.

When inside a moving vehicle try to look for a safe place to park and stay there. Avoid staying near buildings as well. Never get out of the car as long as you are sure that the vehicle is safe and secure. If you're in a bridge, make sure you get away from there immediately but cautiously.

Being trapped in a collapsed building should not make you lose hope. As much as possible, be optimistic and focus on what you can do about the situation. Find the nearest emergency exit and carefully crawl towards it. Again, do not run. If the situation permits, look for anyone who might need your help. If you can't get out, stay where you are and wait for rescue.

Sometimes, when people think that an earthquake has passed that's when most accidents happen. Be careful and watch out for an aftershock. We can never take an earthquake for granted since no one has ever invented a tool yet that will predict its coming. We can just keep ourselves prepared and ready if ever one would strike.
