Things You Need To Do Before You Have A Baby
A Baby! What a joyous event - a life-changing moment
, when another human being emerges into this world and is sheltered and nurtured by loving parents. They say that maternal love is some of the strongest, and that as instinct, it leads to an incomparable willingness to sacrifice. But to get started, here are some more basic items that don't require you to lay your life on the line.
1. When you are deciding which hospital to deliver in, it's important to choose a well known obstetrician and to feel comfortable in a hospital nearby. Pre-registering at the hospital can expedite the check in process when it finally arrives.
2. Pregnancy classes are a good idea for many mothers. Breathing techniques and knowing what kind of pain and sensations to expect before and during the process may help you feel more comfortable when you go into labor.
3. Reading some pregnancy books can also help. The classic "What to Expect When You're Expecting" is a great recommendation. If you want a lighter read, go to the bookstore and look around for what appeals to you.
4. Chances are your friends will want to throw you a baby shower. If they decide to, make a gift registry and fill it with all of the things you need. Baby carriages strollers, a toddler high chair, infant cribs, baby cribs bedding, a chair booster seat and playpens for babies are some of the things you may want to include on your list. Also take into account how your baby will grow, especially if you have a lot of friends and you need more items for them to buy you, it may make sense to include baby high chairs and a toddler high chair on the list.
5. Get the baby's room ready. This may be as simple as setting up the infant cribs, or it may involve choosing the color of the paint you want for your baby's walls. After all, this immediate environment will affect your baby since it will be where she spends most of her time, albeit sleeping.
6. Think about maternity leave. If you are dedicated to work, you may want your husband to be with your baby, or you can hire a nanny or au pair service. You can also work part time to spend more time with your baby and still make money.
7. Think about your emotional quotient with regard to your new baby. You will experience feelings of frustration, stress, being overwhelmed, responsibility, selflessness and love.
8. Physical and monetary situations are also important, though to a lesser extent. If you aren't in shape, you may want to think about how to stay fit as a mother once your baby is born. If you aren't entirely comfortable with your financial situation, begin planning for how to take care of the baby's expenses. These tips aren't comprehensive, but they are a good place to begin. Good luck, and enjoy this process and love your beautiful new baby!
