Generally, leeks can be eaten in different ways. It can be used in soups like vichyssoise. It can also be eaten raw. It is used in salads, added in crudits and can also be eaten with a dip.

The different parts of leeks can be eaten or used in cooking. The part of the plant which is exposed to air is tough and hard to eat. However the white part which is under the solid is tender and easier to eat. The tough parts of this plant are still edible though. It is usually sliced and frozen first. Then it can be used in cooking to add flavor to soups, stews, grilled and sauted meats.

Leeks have various health benefits from the vitamins and minerals which it contains. This plant is a great source for Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, iron, manganese, potassium and fiber.
