Things to Consider Before Renting Rotavators

Hiring a rotavator can be expensive and can become something that will take up your time and money. Before you go out and rent one you should think about a few things. The most important of these is do you actually need one?

Rotavators are good value if you have a lot of land that needs turning, and then it is worth hiring a a rotavator. However, most of the time the amount of land is small and you could do the same amount of work, in less time than you take to go out and rent one, and much more cheaply by using standard tools like spades, picks, forks, hoes, and other common hand tools.

Choose the hire shop carefully. What do people say about this place? Make sure to find out what other people say about the people renting out the equipment. Instead of going straight to the phone book, ask around and get some opinions. It will save you a lot of trouble later on. Many equipment shops will charge high prices hoping that you do not know much about rental costs. Even worse though is when they rent you tools that are not suited to what you are trying to do; if it is broken, you will have to pay for fixing or replacing the item. When looking to rent rotavators or other heavy equipment, it is better to go with reputable dealers that you can research and compare prices before parting with your cash.

When hiring equipment insist that the rental firm demonstrate how to use the equipment and give you a copy of the instructions in writing. This will also help ensure that you have a position to fall back on in case things do not work out well even though you did everything you were supposed to do. Ask questions and make sure that you know exactly what you are supposed to do; do not be afraid to ask them to repeat something you did not grasp the first time.

Remember, this is a heavy piece of machinery we are talking about, and it can be quite dangerous if you do not know what you are doing.
