Are you prepared to make some enemies?

No matter how much you might think that it will be different for you, you will encounter people who absolutely will not want to understand what you are doing. There are some very intelligent people out there who refuse to accept that a network marketing company is a legitimate business model, and that an MLM is not, by definition, a pyramid.

You can argue with them all day that it isn't just the people 'at the top' who make all the money, but they will not get it. If you get serious about building your network marketing business, you might want to prepare yourself to not only lose some old friends, but also make some new enemies.

When you are at your next family reunion and all your relatives are bragging about their successful jobs or business ventures, they will scoff at the 'network marketing business' that you 'own', even if you make more money than they do. "What is it you do, again? Oh, yea. How's that going? Oh, excuse me; I've got a call coming in...."

Equally as frustrating will be your 'broke' relatives who complain endlessly about how tough things are...blah, blah, blah...but become deaf mutes when you suggest that they look at what you are doing as a possible solution to their financial problems.

By the very nature of the recruiting process of MLM, you will find yourself placing people into one of two categories: winners or losers. Winners if they choose to join your network marketing company and losers if they are too ignorant and narrow-minded to see genius of network marketing. Winners if they are for you and losers if they are against you.

"No doesn't mean 'No'. It means they don't have enough information." Translation: if they say 'no', you need to spend another hour trying to convince them to say 'yes'. If they persist in their refusal to see the light, then it will be time to 'flush' them - as in toilet. Needless to say, the next time they see you coming, they will probably run the other way. But that's OK, you'll say, because "if they were really my friend, they would at least support what I am doing."

The concept of network marketing has always made sense to the people who are involved and truly understand the principle behind the 'multi-level' marketing business model. Moreover, there are some very intelligent, competent folks involved in MLM. Over the years, a stigma has been attached to any business that attempts to indiscriminately recruit members using the methods employed by many network marketers. Because of this, not everyone you talk to will be excited about your new network marketing business venture.
