The fireplace mantels are generally known as mantelpieces and even chimneypieces and have been used from ancient times. The role of the fireplace mantels was to catch the grate smoke. Some models are kept simple but others use figures, vegetation, moldings and several other things when creating a mantel depending on the style of the room and the vision of the sculptor. Some people say that this is a true art and should be created an encyclopedia for it. The material is not the only important things when designing a mantel. Also, the style and refinement of the sculpture gives it the quality of a unique piece and that can highlight the aspect of the room where the mantel is built.
