3. If you want to know more about Chester and its history, one of the best ways is by taking one of its many tours. The History Hunter is a particular gem, looking back over 2,000 years, while the Ghosthunter Trail is one for fans of all things supernatural. The Secret Cheshire Tour is another winner, taking in some of the city's oldest and most interesting buildings.

4. If you're a fan of quirkier attractions, then look no further than the Grosvenor Park Miniature Railway. This charming little attraction is for adults and kids alike and features a long wooden bridge, as well as steam and diesel hauled trains.

5. For a more modern experience, there's shopping. Like with most cities, all the big high street chains are here, although you may not recognised set inside some beautiful Tudor buildings. Plus, there's the famous Chester Market Hall, with 100 stalls selling everything from groceries to clothing and everything in between.
