One can avoid pressing the screen accidentally while the phone is in their pocket or bag by locking it. One can use the "gesture lock", where they have to draw a certain letter of the alphabet on the screen in order to unlock the phone.

Users can choose to customize the homescreen of the phone. And just like the Samsung Tocco Ultra, the Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite uses the TouchWiz, which allows users to drag and drop items using their fingers. Another feature of this mobile phone which users look for is the built-in camera, which takes 3 megapixel pictures. It has a "Smile" function, where the camera only takes pictures if the subject is smiling.

In terms of memory, the Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite has 50MB worth of internal memory, but users can quickly attach an 8GB microSD in case they need extra storage space for photos and videos. Sharing files is quick and easy thanks to the GPRS and EDGE technology adopted by the phone, so users can send their videos and photos to friends and family. What's more, they can directly transfer files to and from their laptop to the mobile phone. Other features include an FM radio, a media player, an Internet browser, and international roaming.

There are a few problems users might encounter when using the Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite. Those with light fingers would need to press hard on the screen in order to elicit a response. The camera has no auto-focus, while the speakers can cause the sound to become high-pitched when placed at the maximum level. The sound is clear when placed at mid-volume, but other users may prefer the volume to be a little louder. Before one can insert the microSD they need to remove the phone's battery. Finally, there is no 3G connection available on the phone.
