This Text Message Saved The Day

Isn't it ironic? Here we are writing articles this week which are focused on personal credit

. Between getting text alerts that Ron Artest is going to try out for the NFL and Pink being pregnant, there was this lovely little gem from my credit monitoring service membership:

FROM: Triple alert redemption

SUBJECT: Your credit monitoring membership

MESSAGE: Triple alert credit monitoring detected a key change(s) to your credit report. Please log in to view your alert.

I discovered the issue upon logging in to my bank website. I quickly saw that my visa credit card was reported lost or stolen. Hmmm, the credit card was still in my wallet and after checking with the other card holder, my wife, she shared that she had her card right in her purse where it was supposed to be. Here we go again, we both thought. Here is another fraudulent attempt by the criminal element out to steal our identity and get their hands on our credit card in order to spend up all our available credit on the card.

It really does not matter what credit monitoring service you choose to use, the important thing is that you choose one and use it. There are several credit monitoring services to choose from, the point is to sign up for one and protect yourself right away and protect your loved ones from this type of criminal activity. This service as well as other similar services provide you with the tools you need to access and monitor your financial and credit information.

Imagine what could have happened if that lovely little gem of a text alert which I recieved had never arrived. How long would it have taken for us to learn that our visa credit card was reported lost or stolen? What other personal information had been stolen or compromised? Was someone casing out our mailbox, waiting for those new visa credit cards to arrive and then pluck them out of our mailbox? Thank goodness we don't have to find out. Many folks who are using this type of credit monitoring service membership are well pleased with this type of service and feel that the few dollars they spend per month for the membership to this type of service more than pays for itself very quickly. It pays for itself in the form of greater peace of mind and consistently getting a good night's sleep.
