Thought For Thursday

Have you at any time tried to organize your time

? What I mean by this is have you tried to do decide on a type of thing to do for each day, and then done this every week? Let me expand. Some days I find myself doing the same thing every day and not actually getting done some of the other stuff that I need to do. So three weeks back I decided to change this. How? So I constructed a list.

So more about me. I have 3 hours each day Monday to Friday to myself that I can use to get things done. Some days though, I just sit and play my musical instrument and then the house gets neglected and starts to look like a bomb site. Some days I work on my pages for insurance related sites, and something else will suffer, normally again the state of the house. Last week my washing heap grew so major that I knew I had to do something. So here comes the list.

The things I need to do in order to keep operating comfortably are, 1.Clean the house; 2. Do the laundry; 3. play my guitar; 4. Work out; 5. Do improvements on the house 6. Write for insurance websites and earn some money. I decided to divide these as follows: Monday - work on websites; Tuesday - Work on writing; Wednesday - Do DIY; Thursday - Do DIY; Friday - Clean the house and play my guitar. Added to this I do one load of washing and drying per day.

Has my system worked? OK in the last 3 weeks I have decidedly been more productive. The house is cleaner and looking better and I have clean clothes to wear. Not doing the same thing every day makes me hungry to do that thing another time, so for example I can't wait to practice my guitar on the evening. Or if I have been working for a site, I look forward to doing it again. Last week I worked on writing about one day car insurance and despite it being a bit mundane, I really got stuck in. I guess as they say a change is as good as a rest.


The big challenge for me though is, is this sustainable? Like all good things, they appear good at first but then slowly we start falling into old habits. What is necessary is making the new regime into a habit rather than a fad. The way to do this is through all-out effort and reminders, and of course action. I have fixed my list to the fridge so that I know what I have to do. Don't worry I haven't got a reward chart as yet, I will leave that for the kids.

As I write this I am laughing because it is Thursday, and I shouldn't be doing this today. Slap on the wrists for me then, With that thought in mind, I will end and get on with the DIY.
