Are you tired of losing at the horse races, day after day? I don't blame you, losing at the races despite your best efforts can get very frustrating, not to mention expensive. No one can guarantee to make you a winner, but if you are making one of these obvious mistakes, then just avoiding the mistake may save you from losing.

To figure out how not to lose, you must first have an idea of what it takes to win at the races. What is the single biggest obstacle to winning at the horse races? I think it is the vig. That is the amount the track takes out of the pool before the winners are paid off. It is about 20% at most tracks if you figure in breakage. That is an incredible nut to crack.

Just as there are races with too many horses who have never proven what they can or can't do on turf or at the distance, there are some races that are too tough or have such a short priced favorite, it isn't profitable to bet the race. Sitting out races will improve your game in the long run.
