Thrift Stores Are A Community Asset
There are many needs that people have in a community
. There are some families that are having financial difficulties and are having a hard time providing for their families. When families encounter these hard times, they look for resources to help them continue to provide for their families. One of the best resources that families find are thrift stores.
Many people that are new to thrift stores find that the merchandise that is in these stores are often of very good quality. They normally carry many different things such as: clothing for all sexes and kids, shoes, household items and even furniture. Everything is priced to be affordable.
When people think of thrift stores, they normally think of a charity that they are connected to. There are a lot of thrift stores that work closely with different charities or have been started by those charities. When a store is connected to a charity, they do give a portion of their profits or all of their profits to that charity so they can continue their good works in the community.
When charities are affiliated with thrift stores, they ensure that those stores are stocked with merchandise. These charities often receive different donations from people and they turn those donations over to these stores so that they can be sold. When these stores sell the merchandise, they make sure they pay the overhead expenses and make sure to give the remaining monies over to the charity.
Thrift stores that work with or are operated by charities help the community in two separate ways. These stores offer their neighbors a place to find the things they need for their homes at a much discounted price. These are quality items that can be reused instead of discarded. When these stores make a profit, part or all of that money is given to the charity. The charity then uses that money to fund other projects to help in the community.
Many people don't realize that there are two types of thrift stores in operation. There are some thrift stores that don't work with charities and aren't looking to establish any terminate ties with one. These stores were opened with the express intent of making money and they are owned by private owners, not a charity.
Because for profit thrift stores are not affiliated with a charity, the donations that these charities receive aren't immediately given to the store. These stores will contact many different charities and they will purchase the donations that these organizations have collected. When they have purchased the inventory, they will bring it back to their store to be sold as any other store would.
Thrift stores are a wonderful concept and something that has benefited many families. These stores help people in different communities across the world. Not for profit thrift stores and for profit thrift stores are all a benefit because the help people purchase the things that they need for their families without spending a lot of money.
