This is simply a hole in the ground with a bonfire, but it makes for a great centrepiece at a party. People will gather around it and talk happily together. You could even use it to toast marshmallows if you wanted.

Because the party is being held during winter, it is best to have warm drinks on offer. The obvious drink at this time of year is mulled wine. It is incredibly festive, warm and delicious! Your guests will forget the cold when the hot wine starts to flow. As for food, something warming is also essential. Forget fiddly canaps that cannot be eaten with gloves on or plates of food that go cold almost instantly. Soup in mugs is absolutely ideal. The mug itself prevents the heat from escaping and the soup fills the belly and warms the whole body. Mugs of soup with mulled wine are the perfect refreshments at an outdoor, winter party.

It is always a good idea to have the house available to move the party into when it does get a bit too cold for everyone. Make sure the fire is lit and the house is decorated with more Christmas lights and decorations. A Christmas tree is essential at Christmas time and this should stand as the centrepiece in the main party room of the house.
