Throwing An Event
In life there are many things that add stress to your life whether it be your kids or your job
. If you ever get the chance to plan an event you will get to feel a new sense of stress. I recently had to plan an event for my business and it was an experience I will never forget. I tried to do the whole planning on my own and I wish I would of gotten some help to make things easier for me. When it comes to planning an event there are so many different moving pieces to worry about that I was really stressing out. I wanted everything to be perfect because it would help my business but I worried about things so much that I barely slept for that month. From my experience I have learned some things about planning an event and wanted to share them with you.
When planning an event the first thing you will want to do early and first is figuring out where you will have the event. After I decided to throw an event for my business I waited a week to figure out where I wanted to have it and when I started looking most of the good places were booked since it was last minute. Also when deciding on a space you want to make sure that don't get a space that is to big or to small. You need to figure out the right mixture as if you have a small party in a huge room it will be conversations more difficult and if the space is to small people will feel to crowded.
After you have your space you need to figure out what you want to do with invitations. You can go the traditional route of mailing out the invitations or do Evites. For my event I did the Evites and also posted it on Facebook as I had most of the people I wanted to invite on there and it made things easier. After the invitations are all set you will want to decide on the food. Most people do some light appetizers and a buffet setup as it is the easiest. For my event I went this route as well as it seemed the easiest because the caters had a set menu that sounded good and I left all of that to them. Another thing potential thing to think about for your event is if you want to have any entertainment. For this you need to figure out what best matches the overall feel for your event. Since my event was for my business I had some light music in the background but nothing to much that would make it more difficult for me to promote my business.
These were some simple things to think about when planning an event.
