Introduction

Tibidabois a mountain located on the northwestern side of the city ofBarcelona inCatalonia,Spain. Magic Mountain, as it is also called by the common tourists, represents one of the most splendid views of the entire city and the beauty of the sea.

The amusement park on the top of the mountain, at more than 500 m height, is the oldest in Barcelona and welcomes visitors with original rides, some of them dating from the beginning of the 20th century.

Content

Tibidabo is usually and traditionally reached by afunicular railway. It was built in 1901 and represented a premiere in Spain. At the beginning of the 20th century,locals beganto work on the development of the park and started atram - the Blue Tram. During this development, on the mountain, improvement was taking place with the landscape and the construction of therestaurants and cafes.At the end of October1901,the site was formally inaugurated,and surprisingly, the access- the funicular became the main touristic mark because of the innovation that was brought to the means of transport of that time.

1901 also represented the beginning of the entertainment activities and automatic scales. Room was also made for postcard vending machines. The park does not look like a modern park with any rollercoaster rides, but the landscape and the warm atmosphere with people dressed fancily to amuse the visitors, convert a day out to a great one. In the beginning, the park was a site of insignificant amusements such as the shooting gallery, telescopes and binoculars, swings, bowling, mirrors, messenger pigeons and automatons. Also, little events and small shows were taking place such as choirs, balloon rides, military bands and orchestras. Nowadays, fresh buildings have been built such as a large events hall, Gran Caf Restaurant Tibidaboand theColl hotel and Restaurant.

Access

To get to the park and the mountain, take brown line from Plaza de Catalunya Metro. Car is also a way to reach the theme park. Tibibus is also a way - a bus from Plaa Catalunya. It runs from 10.30 a.m. when the amusement park is open.

Accommodation available in the region is offered at all kinds of villas and apartments with terraces at the base of the mountain with prices starting from 25 per night for a person. Hotels are also available with rates starting from 45.
