Tiger Reserves Of India---last Habitats Of Tigers
India is home to last remaining Royal Bengal Tigers.Infact the key to the survival
of this magnificent predictor of forests in the world lies in endavours that India has been making for saving this mammal. India has started project tiger in the year 1973 aimed at saving this species.
In pursuance of this project, government of India has started creating special areas for the protection of this magnificent mammal. These protected areas are named as tiger resaves. Special status was granted to these protected areas with tigers as the main species to be projected. Project tiger was started in 1973 from Corbett national park & in total nine national parks were chosen to be the part of project tiger. Currently India has 39 tiger reserves in different parts covering an area of sa kms. Recently, there was a new regarding permission to change the protected areas to the status of tiger reserves.
Main tiger reserves of India in its north territory are Corbett, Dudhwa, Ranthambore & sariska tiger reserves. Corbett and Ranthambore are one of the most visited and famour tiger reserves of India. Well maintained & guarded, these reserves are him to a good population of magnificent tigers.
Central India can be easily declared as prime tiger country as it is home to maximum number of tigers in India. The forest stretch of Kanha- BandavgarhPenchPanna constitute extremely significant tiger habitat of central India.The protection of this habitat is extremely significant for saving the tigers in the wild.
South India is equally significant in Indias efforts to save tigers in wild. It has tiger areas like Nahgarhole,Bandipur, Mudumalai which offers continuous and unspoilt stretch of prime tiger habitat.If we consider this strectch alongwith central Indian tiger reserves,this habitat undoubtedly supports aroung 70-80 % of wild tigers in India.
Last but not least is north-east India having significant tiger reserves like Manas,Kaziranga offer another favourable habitat for wild tigers.There are other tiger reserves in this area and are also significant in tiger survival.
So these project tiger reserves are very important for the survival of tigers in the wild in particular and wildlife in general. Let us hope, pray, strive and work for the survival of wild India.
