You will need to rent a waste disposal bin to put all the old flooring, debris, and scraps in. You will also need to set up a pick up date for the bin also.

If the flooring is uneven or sags in any way, a cement sub floor will need to be installed. Cement backer board is a great product to use for this.

By now your back, neck, knees and arms are hurting. If you would have gone with a professional for installation of your floor, you would not be suffering the pain that you are. They would not need to purchase most of the supplies that are mentioned above; the debris, old flooring, and scraps would be cleaned up and hauled away at no extra charge.

When you get ready to lay the floor, you will start in the center and lay out the entire tile in the pattern that you decided upon. You will need to make the cuts that are needed at this time. This will make putting it down much easier.

If a professional had installed the tile, you would not have had to tear up the old flooring or mop board, they would have done it. The rental of the waste disposal bin would not have been necessary, as they would have hauled away all the old flooring, debris, and scraps. Installation of the sub-floor would be done by the professional also, along with filling in the space between the cement backer boards and sanding down any excess filler. The dust and debris from the installation of the cement backer boards would be removed by the professional. The placement of the tile would have been done by the professional also. They would have checked to see if the tile was placed how you wanted it too.

The professional would be the one with the pain all over and not you. The installation would have taken 2-3 days if it was completed by the professional.

If you were to compare what you the tile flooring cost with all of the additional charges I have mentioned, installation by the professional is equal to what you spent or maybe even less.

The most important thing you would have saved with a professional installation is the time that you would have lost with your family and friends while installing it yourself. You may have saved a friendship too. Your time is priceless as well as your family and friends.
