The standard of draught proofing and insulation offered by uPVC sash windows is naturally higher than timber sash windows, but this can easily be equalled with a few measures. Single glazed timber windows can easily be fitted with double glazing, and draft proofing and insulation measures should come as standard by good installation companies. Pair this with a heavy pair of curtains and youre well on your way to equalling the insulation performance of uPVC windows.

There are countless more reasons why timber window frames are a great choice, but conversely, there are plenty that favour uPVC. Obviously, each house, each owner and each location will have its own requirements, preferences and costs.
