Tips For A Stress Free Start To Your Holiday

Nobody wants to start their holiday stressed out from traffic delays

, parking worries and rushing to check in, but when flying from Stansted Airport these can be difficult to avoid. Here are some suggestions on how to minimise these hassles when flying from this airport.

TRAFFIC PROBLEMS

Unless you stay very close to Stansted Airport, traffic is always a worry when driving to catch a flight. Delays on the motorways can increase your journey time tremendously, and you don't necessarily want to leave hours earlier than necessary just in case, particularly if your flight is an early morning one. Obviously it's worth checking traffic reports from long before you leave, but even this can't predict accidents or delays that occur after you've already left.

One solution is to find a reasonably priced hotel at Stansted Airport and spend the night before your flight there. When compared to the cost of your holiday accommodation and flights, this can often be a very small expense to add on, and is well worth it in terms of alleviating worries about missing your flight.

In addition to making sure you get to the airport on time, staying overnight nearby also means that you can relax and start getting into the holiday spirit. Think how much better you'll feel on your flight if you've had a good night's sleep and the chance to shower before you check in, rather than spending hours in traffic, after a fretful night worrying whether you'll make it on time without forgetting anything important in the rush.

PARKING HASSLES

People often complain about the high cost of airport parking and the fact is that there is little or no parking at Stansted Airport where you can leave a vehicle for more than thirty minutes. Even the long stay options aren't right at the airport itself, and they can work out very expensive.

If you do decide to use the airport's long stay parking facilities, make sure you book in advance and know exactly where to go, as well as how long it will take you to get from the parking to your terminal. You will almost certainly have to budget some extra time in order to make sure you arrive on time for your flight.

Obviously the easiest solution for you is if someone can drop you off at the airport, but if you stay far away this won't be convenient. And if you're going on a family holiday, this won't be an option, as you'll need to fit everyone in plus the full complement of luggage.

Another solution is to take a taxi to the airport. This can work out very expensive, particularly if you stay a long way from Stansted, but may be worth it in terms of reducing stress. Even families can order a taxi large enough to fit everyone in, and you'll be dropped right at the terminal.

Another option is to park at a hotel at Stansted Airport. Some hotels are actually closer to the airport than Stansted's own long stay parking facilities, and you don't necessarily have to stay at the hotel in order to use their parking. Depending on the hotel, you can find park and fly packages as well as sleep, park and fly options.

Of course taking advantage of a sleep, park and fly package solves your traffic as well as your parking problems. You can start the day with a cooked breakfast and a hot shower without any cleaning up afterwards! All you need to do is hop on the airport shuttle to catch your flight.

Holidays are intended to help you unwind and de-stress, so it's worth considering all the different options available to you when planning it. Balance your available budget with your need for convenience and hopefully you'll get your holiday off to a great start.
