complaints that might have been avoided with some due diligence on the part of both parties. The child"s well being is the key factor in any partnership between parent and daycare provider and some well thought out investigations are imperative for building a healthy, educational environment for the young one.
Providers should maintain a professional operation with well planned, structured activities for the children in your care. You must follow the laws and regulations of your area to the letter. Anything less opens the door for complaints and possibly litigation. Set firm rules for the clients" and children"s behavior and don"t deviate from them.
Children with behavioral problems or special needs shouldn"t be accepted unless you are specifically qualified to do so. Special needs children require far more care and attention and it is critical that you have the correct staff to deal with the workload.
Unless this is a non-profit endeavor, you must remember that you are in business to make money. You are providing a service for your clients and they are expected to pay on time for that service. Make sure that you pay attention to any signs that the clients might not be able to pay on time and be ready to act according to established rules should non-payment become a problem.
Your attitude towards your clients should be friendly yet professional as should be the attitude of any employees in your charge. Getting too close to a client can lead to them asking for favors or bending of rules and should be avoided at all costs.

Ask for references and contact those references. Ask about any complaints or weaknesses they noticed about the service.
Once your child is enrolled, if possible, take the morning off and show up unannounced. Stay for a while and take notice of the structure (or lack thereof) of the daily routine. Make a habit of asking your children what they did that day. Check to see if they learned anything or if there was anything special that happened that day.
Pay on time and be on time for pickup. You are in a partnership with your daycare provider and you wouldn"t want anything inadvertently influencing the care your child receives. This one step can avoid many daycare complaints.
Check your child"s body for any marks such as bruises. Document anything you find. In today"s litigious society, you could be prosecuted for child abuse at any time so it pays to protect yourself.
These are just some of the ways that daycare providers and parents can ensure a safe and constructive environment for your child. The more precautions taken on the front end, the better the foundation that can be laid for your child"s well being.
