Tips For Family Tree Archiving

If you have ever thought about family tree archiving

, there is no better time than right now to stop thinking and start doing! The only thing that changes as more time goes by is the amount of things that are happening that would go into the family archive if you had one. But how do you get started? What is the best way to do all of this?

There are now basically three main types of family archives that can be made and used as a memory book for generations of your descendants to treasure. There are different themes, if you will to follow. These are technology changes, historical changes and political changes. The route you choose to go with your memories is completely up to you, so here is a rundown of those three ideas for you to consider. Although they are not the only ideas, they are a few to get you started.

Archiving technological changes is something that captures the American spirit and the worlds fascination with progress. Technological advancements add new elements, changes and improvements to the lives of everyone who touches them, and when you think about how much the world has changed because of technology it is pretty amazing. Think about 20 years back for example, when only the privileged rich had cellular phones (back then they were car phones). Now, these are available to anyone and everyone and not only do they work in the car, but they work literally everywhere. Just about everyone has a cell phone. Create pages of your familys experiences with technology from the past that has evolved like the cell phone, the record player to CD to the mp3 format, the cars and how they have changed (big one there) and other technologies. Anywhere you can, include pictures of family members using these technologies old and new.

Historical changes of course can be world-wide accounts, national accounts or just documenting the way your family has evolved and descended through the years. Saving memories of all kinds will not only help you remember these memories, but future generations will look at the family tree archiving that you created and thank you for it when you are gone.

Political changes can include all kinds of events that have touched your family such as the fall of the Berlin Wall or the 9/11 attacks on the US. As you can guess, political changes will more than likely overlap historical changes, so family tree archiving that highlights both of these categories might be something you would be interested in too.
