Tips For Gastric Bypass Eating

Gastric bypass recipes are something that many people look for when they know they are going to have weight loss surgery

. These recipes vary depending on what stage of bariatric eating you are in. If you are in stage 3 you can actually have some food and if you are in stage 2 you cannot eat anything that needs chewing.

Bariatric patients can find eating after surgery very scary and they are afraid of eating the wrong things. This is a very valid fear, but as long as you follow a few simple rules for eating after your surgery you will do just fine. The important rules for eating after surgery are as follows:

1.Nothing that needs chewed in stage 2. Only strained, pureed foods that are high in protein. Baby food will work and protein shakes that have at least 15-20 grams of protein and less than 10 grams of sugar per 8 ounces are ideal.

2.If you are at stage 3, make sure your foods are chewed well before swallowing. This stage should include only soft foods and you should be eating at least 60 grams of protein per day while limiting severely your sugar and fat intake.

3.The bottom line is you should be eating a lot of protein, chewing your food well, limiting sugar, carbs and fat and eating slowly.

4.This is a good time to work on developing healthy habits. Start an exercise program as soon as your doctor allows. Even though, you may be able to eat all the foods you ate in the past, learn to put limits on anything that is not lean protein or fruits and vegetables. Work on developing a healthy mindset for living a full life.

The bariatric diet is a very small part of your life. It is necessary, but what you do after you have completed this diet will be what determines how much weight you lose and if you will be successful at keeping the weight off.
