You need to remember, however, that there are good fats that your body needs. Essential fatty acids such as flax seed oil and fish oils are great substitutes for butter.

Take the time and effort to adjust the things you eat, choosing healthier alternatives over choices you may have made in the past. Opt for milk that is lower in fat and low fat yogurt over cream. If you have a choice between a muffin or a doughnut, the muffin would of course be a better choice.

How much you eat also factors in greatly, and this is an area where you can have a lot of control and actually see the difference. Often times we overeat without even giving it a second thought, but that second helping does make a difference. Practice sensible portion control, and don't continue to eat once you are no longer hungry.

There are plenty of healthy and delicious options out there. You don't have to fall in love with all the food nature has to offer, find the ones you like, so that you eat them because you want to and not just because you think you should.

It's probably wise to avoid fast food joints altogether since the majority of their food is high in both fat and sodium. They will certainly hold you over for a while, but they are in no way good for you.
