Tips For Not Crashing An Rc Helicopter

Flying an RC helicopter is not as easy as it looks

. The main problem people suffer with, alongside the occasional maintenance issues, is the jarring and the lack of any smooth movements in the air. But by learning to fly them properly people will discover that its not as hard as it seems. So read on to find out more about flying one of these wonderful models.

The Helicopter

When it comes to choosing a helicopter the individual really has two choices. They can either get an electric helicopter or a gas-powered helicopter. The main benefit of the electrical version is that it simply runs on a battery and can be flown remarkably easily. However, the gas-powered version provides a more authentic flying experience. The only problem is that the gas-powered helicopter will require some maintenance and a little technical knowledge.

Reading and Preparations

To start with, its important to actually read the manual. So many people refuse to even pick up the manual because they think its boring and they want to get flying straight away. This is the biggest mistake anybody can make. After this is done a pre-flight list should be constructed.

This pre-flight list should consist of some basic tests that will test that the helicopter is fine with going in all directions and that all the safety mechanisms and the radio are in good working order. If this is all completed then the individual should be ready to start training themselves to fly the RC helicopter smoothly.

Flying Lessons

Flying well will take a very long time to accomplish. Remember, one of these machines has the capability to fly at a maximum speed of 80mph and can fly up to around 12,000 feet in the air. Avoid trying to push these boundaries. Make sure that it stays in range and that no stunts are attempted during the first few weeks of flying because it can cost lots of money to replace one of these machines.

Practice by flying the RC helicopter in all directions, to start with. This will let the pilot get to grips with the basic controls and will show that they can do all the basics. Then try and do this faster and faster until it can be done without putting any thought into it. The best place to practice this is in an open field as there are few obstacles here.
