Take down notes: Very few students take down notes in class. However, the toppers are also very few. Taking down notes is a habit that very few students can pull off well. Those few students become the cream of the class. Jotting down notes helps a lot while doing home study. However, it is very important to know how to make notes. In order to jot down notes one must not miss the words of teachers.

Making notes is an art. One must cultivate it to perform well in studies. He/she must make abbreviations of long words and jot down points in short hand. Note making is an act that goes hand in hand with sincere listening and observation in the classroom.

Be active: If you honestly want to perform well in case (which I assume you do, that is why you are reading this article), then be very active in the class. Dont be a passive student. Show some zeal. Participate in debates, discussions, group activities etc. This will widen up your mindset. If the tutor is teaching too fast then you have every right to ask him to slow down. If you are confused, ask doubts to the teachers. The more you participate, the more you would excel.

Complete all assignments on time: Never keep assignments pending to be completed on the eve of the submission day. Start off with an assignment as soon as you get it. The earlier you start, the better it would be. In the last time hustle, you are more likely to make mistakes. The assignment wont be very impressive, if you do it in hurry at the last moment. The motive of completing an assignment is to do research in it and understand the topic in depth. Make sure that you complete an assignment all by yourself, without copying from others.

Prepare for exams well in advance: A continuous home learning is must to perform well in academics. If you want to achieve excellence, then learn a bit of your curriculum every day. By the time exams come near, you would realize that you have already finished most of the syllabus. Only thing you would need to do by then would be revision, which would make you feel confident of yourself. Do not wait for the night before exam to study. In fact, never ever pull an All-nighter which will give you nothing else than strain and sense of confusion. A subtle mindset is a prerequisite to do well in exams.
