Tips On Applying For Financial Aid Application: Part 5

The college costs are usually beyond the reach of many students and most need to

turn to some form of financial aid so as to be able to afford a college. This article is part 5 of the series that provides tips on the process of applying for financial aid that would help you win a good financial aid package.

The First Impression

Your first impression is your application form for the financial aid that you are applying for. Ensure that you are thorough, neat and organized with the application form. Having a clean and well-organized application is an indication of your seriousness about your education. However, it is not a guarantee that you will get a scholarship or grant just because your application was neat and organized. On the other hand, a tattered, blemished, or disorganized application can send the wrong message and you could be out of their list the first time itself.

So what can you do to create a good impression? Below are a few tips:

1.Proofread your application before submitting. Use a computer or perhaps seek help from your parents, friends or teachers.

2.Do not leave any of the items in the application form blank. Fill all items. Call your program sponsors for clarification if required.

3.Follow all the given instructions. It is essential that you do not cross the word count for the essay. Do not send any extra material that was not asked for in the application form.

4.Ensure that what you write is legible. It is better to type or print your application form and send it across.

5.Keep a copy of every application that you have sent. This includes additional material as well. This is essential in case the application is lost so that you can easily and quickly resend your application.
