Tips On How To Avoid Having Dry Skin This Christmas Season

It's Christmas time once again, and we can definitely feel it in the cold December air

. But as we all know, this kind of weather makes our skin's moisture content to drop which causes our skin to be dry and cracked. Having chapped lips, leathery skin, and cracked hands and feet are probably the most common skin problems that we encounter during this season. These problems might cause serious complications when not addressed. As they say, prevention is better than cure so let me share to you some tips on how to avoid having dry and cracked skin this Christmas season.

1. Continue using your sunscreen even if it's cold or cloudy. The sun's UV rays could still penetrate so it's better to be protected at all times.

2. Drink lots of water to maintain and replenish the moisture content on your skin. For adults, it is recommended that you drink about six to eight glasses of water a day.

3. Avoid drinking alcohol. Alcohol sucks the moisture out of our skin. I know it's Christmas and it's really hard not to drink alcoholic beverages with all the parties and festivities happening. Try to avoid it as much as possible and if you can't, just try to drink in moderation.

4. Use a mild, unscented soap free cleanser when cleaning your face. Soaps can strip the moisture out of your skin which could make it look and feel dry.

5. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Moisturizers help lock in moisture in our skin which makes our skin look and feel hydrated and healthy.

6. Use lotions, hand creams and foot creams on your hands, elbows, feet and other dry skin patches to prevent them from cracking.

7. Use a lip balm with sun protection to help keep your lips moisturized and protected from the sun's harmful rays.
