Loosening the sixth string

This should be the first step when changing the strings of an electric guitar. Carefully loosen the strings then pull them out from the tuning pegs and bridge. Remove each string at a time and make sure to keep them away from the new ones.

Removing the old one

When the strings are loosened, remove them and clean those areas to keep it free from dust before inserting the new string. Keep your old strings and don't just throw them anywhere else as these may cause accidents from stepping on them or being swallowed by babies if there's any in your home. Dispose them by putting them in one container before throwing it on the trash bin.

Feeding the guitar with the new string

The new string should fit each peg and should match the type of electric guitar that you have.

Pulling it to the bridge

Start from the bridge when inserting the new string then pull it up towards the tuning peg.

Wrapping it around the tuning peg

Slowly insert the tip of the string to the tuning peg and make sure it does not break or is tightly attached.

Crimping and winding it

Crimping and winding the string will prevent it from sliding out from the tuning peg just when you are about to adjust it. It holds the string in place and lets you turn the peg to carefully tighten the hold of each string.

Cutting and stretching the new electric guitar strings

Cut the excess string and make sure you have enough for adjusting the tune of your electric guitar.

After attaching all the new strings, you can then test the tunes and adjust them accordingly. You can now play beautiful tunes and melodies with your electric guitar all day.
