All home owners have to deal with pest infestations
. We have insects, rodents and more. Pests can damage your property. There are a lot of homeowners who've spent thousands of dollars in repair due to this problem.
This is the reason why regular pest inspection is important. Although you'll be spending a few hundred bucks for this, you're actually saving more money than you think. As a home owner, you have a fighting chance against these annoying pests. There are ways to deter and eliminate this problem. Here are some tips on how you can do this:
Insects
1. Stop ants from infesting your home with the use of borax and sugar mixture. The ants will definitely find their way towards this concoction but end up being poisoned by other compound.
2. You may also sprinkle borax around areas where cockroaches may be infesting. Just make sure that you don't sprinkle your pets, utensils and areas where your pets and children go to.
3. You may use your hairspray to kill wasps, bees and other insects that are flying in your home. Hairspray is a good substitute to insect spray.
4. If there are fleas in your house, make sure you vacuum your rugs before spraying on anything. The dust bag must be thrown outside immediately.
5. Stagnant water must be changed every 3 days to prevent mosquitoes from invading your area.
6. Get rid of carpenter ants by checking for their presence in your pipes and roofs. If there are damp wood in your area, check this area too.
7. If you find centipedes in your house, then this means that there are also other insects present in your house since they go after other insects as well.
Raccoons and Rodents
1. Set up mouse traps in areas where you suspect rodents may be frequenting. You may use raw bacon or peanut butter as your bait.
2. If you find that a raccoon has made your chimney or attic their home, you may use chemical repellents to get rid of them. One example is oil of mustard. However, you may not want to use these for too long as they don't only bother raccoons, it will bother you too. What you can do, however, is to wait for the animal to leave and then cover their entrance hole with a wire mesh.
3. One way to prevent rodents from entering your house is by closing every opening in your house that they could get into. There are some rodents that don't need a lot of space in order to get in. You may place poisons in holes and cracks.
