Windows7 is the latest in the Windows series of next generation operation systems
. With the rising popularity of laptops and netbooks, an important feature in this OS is connecting to a wireless LAN. There are some basic steps that you can use and learn how to wireless network windows 7.
The first thing to note is locate the icon which will launch the window to work on the wireless networks; for this look at the bottom right corner of the laptop screen. Near the date and time you will find a series of rising bars. This is your network icon.
Click on the network icon and it should show you a list of wireless networks that your laptop can see. This is a list of all the wireless access points whose signals can be received by the laptop antenna. For best connectivity, you must connect to a network with strong signal.
The strength of the signal can be easily identified by looking at the number of green bars and grey bars; the greater the number of green bars, the stronger the signal. So pick the strongest network, which would typically be the one from your house and click the connect button.
Typically with this step you should get connected to the wireless access point. However, some networks are secured and would require a passcode to grant access. This is sometimes done for security reasons so that intruders do not get access to the wireless network and all devices on it.
There is a remote chance that you would see a cross mark on the network icon in the task bar. When you click on it, you do not see any wireless network. This is because the wireless system in your laptop is turned off. Locate the wireless switch and turn it on. Everything should work fine now.
So it is clear that wireless networking with Windows 7 is really very simple and straight forward. Just a word of caution, you must never log in to any free or unsecured wireless network unless you know that it is trust worthy. If not, you could risk exposing your self to hackers and viruses. This simple check can save you a lot of trouble in the long run.
