Rugs are like any other furniture in our house which is entitled to our care and

maintenance for it to last longer and remain its elegance for the longest time possible. With proper handling and cleaning, we cannot distinguish which rug is more expensive and which rug is cheaper because in the long run its durability will be tested and its selling price would not matter anymore. Therefore, as owners it is our sole responsibility to take care of our things as we take care of ourselves after all our things are great reflection of our personality. For us to keep our things well we need to know the proper way of handling it, we need to know the dos and don'ts on cleaning a specific rug.

There are different ways on cleaning your rugs at home depending on the kind of rug you have at home, it is then important to take note of what kind of rug you have so that you can give the precise care it need. For the less expensive type of rugs, one thing we should always bear in mind is to prevent pulling off the rug strips so as not to ruin the totality of the rug. Because a single strand of fiber that is pulled out could cause an awful result on your rugs. Aside from that, we need to know that some cheap rugs are washable with the use of a machine while some rugs are more sensitive so it needs more care in handling.

First thing to do when cleaning rugs, is to take it out the house to sweep away a lot of dirt and dust as possible from the rug with the use of a straw broom. Just be careful not to put on heavy hands when doing this so that strands of fabric will not be taken out. Next is, you can start washing the rug like any other clothes with minimal special instructions. One of this is you will use the specific carpet shampoo required if there is any if there is none then any laundry soap would do. After washing the rug, you have to dry it under the sun so as to kill the bacteria that inhibit on the rugs.

Another way of cleaning rugs or carpets is through the use of a vacuum cleaner, in which there is no need of water and soap to clean the rugs because the said appliance would get rid of the dust accumulating the rug in a second but doing this alone for a long period of time is not that healthy, because bacteria and viruses may have grown fast in the rug thus the heat of sunlight is crucial. True enough vacuum cleaning is definitely the key to maintaining the beauty and worth of a rug or carpet because it extends the wearing of the rugs.

When rugs are placed on a working area or in a spot where we spend most of our spare time we cannot avoid spillage of all sorts of liquid on our rugs and floor area if this happens what we do is to prevent that spread of the liquid so as to limit the damage. Then you can start cleaning the rug with special precaution of the right solution being used because our things could last a lifetime if we treat it right.
