I was at a fine-dining-reservations-only restaurant when I realized how important print menus can be

. Well, my story starts when, after being escorted to our seat by the hostess, we were handed over the print menus. At first glance, I already saw that not much attention was given to the menu printing because of its sorry state. The printed menus were heavily stained that I cannot even read some of the items there. It was quite disappointing considering that I was at an elegant place where their Angus beef is the talk of the town.

I realized that if restaurants dont pay attention to their menus, you get this uncomfortable feeling that you are not in the right place. I mean, the use of plain paper, although with elegant handwritten menu, will not be able to convince patrons that that place is indeed the place to be seen. You see, if you use plain paper for your print menus, it is bound to collect stains from being around food and wine all the time. You certainly would not like to see wine stains or remnants of the previous customers dinner on your printed menus, would you?

What you need to do is to invest in high quality menu printing, especially so if your restaurant has a reputation of being the it place. You might think that high quality printing of menus is not affordable, but that is simply not the case. Because of the number of printers, the printing industry has become highly competitive, especially among online printers. If you choose the right online printer, they will give you easy printing guidelines to follow taking all the guesswork out of the process.

Of course, the initial purchase would be more costly compared to when you do it yourself. But the durability of the menus is what you are after.

The value of this digital menu printing is the fact that it lends elegance to your menu. What this means is that it makes your menu different from your everyday offerings. If you already have an upper quality menu printed and showcased in a nice book, there's no reason to reprint it for one or two small additions. Use the glossy cardstock menus as a supplement to what you already have until it's time to make a big change.

High quality printed menus are what you need to match the ambience of your high quality restaurant, such as in the case I presented above. The trick here is to look around online for templates, best practices from similar establishments. Scan the net for menus of various restaurants and chances are you will get an idea of how they presented theirs. Keep them in mind and discuss with your printer how you can achieve that same look for your restaurant.
