Tips To Making Your Own Brochure

Creating your own print brochure can be both daunting and exciting at the same time

. Initially, the task may overwhelm you particularly if you are not used to desktop designing. But eventually through practice, you will be looking forward to the next brochure printing project.

To guide newbies on how to make good print brochures, here are a few tips gathered from experienced brochure printing experts:

1. Front cover

How the front cover looks is the key to the door. In other words, the front cover of your print brochures would determine if your reader would open the bi-fold. As a general rule, the front cover should be visually appealing and provide enough content to invite the reader to open the piece and read more. I have seen many companies rely on the logo, company name, and a great "tag line" that sums up their products/services. This is the approach that is recommended. Some companies want to bullet some items on the front, but remember that space is limited. You can easily go overboard and ruin the piece with too much clutter. Your brochure prints should be able to speak directly to your customers. The idea here is to be straightforward and unambiguous in the manner by which you present your products or services.

2. Back cover

Your back cover is not a space for things that you failed to say within the body of your brochure printing. Never treat the back cover as just extra space. In other words, dont put anything on the back cover. This is the panel that people are least likely to read, so if you put an important message there, it will be lost. On the contrary, use this space to inform your readers about how to get in touch with you. If you own a small company, you may want to consider just listing your phone/fax numbers, web site address, and email address, and leaving the physical address off. This gives your brochure more shelf life if you move.

3. Inside front panel

Easily the most important piece of the brochure. It is recommended that you maximize this space and use it to summarize why the customer should choose you. Your print brochures' front panel is your TV prime time. Optimize this prime space by sharing glowing testimonials or by citing commendations or industry awards. This prime space is your showcase so it is recommended that you leave this section for last. By writing the inside spread first, you will have a better idea of what you want to summarize on the inside front panel.

Here are a few tips you can consider when you start writing the contents of your inside front panel:

Open with a sentence or two about your company. Be sure to phrase it in a way that makes the reader feel that he or she would be "smart" or "important" for choosing your products or services;

Offer a menu or a list of your products and services. Keep each item short and save the lengthy descriptions for your web site or for sell sheets.

Through testimonials, tell the reader how you typically work with your clients. Customers like to know up front what the process is that you will take with them.

These are just some tips to get you started. These are basic tips gathered from experienced brochure printing experts. Follow these tips and you would never go wrong. If you bump into a problem, do not worry, experts have gone through them countless of times before so that they would know what to advise you now.
