Tips To Pack Books While Moving

Books have always been a faithful companion

Books have always been a faithful companion. No matter where you go, books are the perfect way to occupy your free time in an interesting and compelling manner. Therefore, you should make sure that your collection of books is absolutely intact during your move and it reaches the new destination in perfect condition.

Here are some tips:

Are you moving long distance? If yes, then you must find out if you are charged according to the weight. You have to carefully go through your collection and then decide which ones you need to keep and pay to move. Keep in mind that books are quite heavy and will definitely contribute to the overall weight of goods. Try to get rid of some books that you won't need any more by donating them to the local library.

When you have selected the ones you are moving to your new home, check the box carefully so that you can be sure that it is capable of supporting the weight and is free from any dampness (in case it is a used one).

Hardcover novels can be placed upright in the box, with the spine against the side of the box, like it would be on a shelf. Ensure that the books are packed without extra spaces, but no too tightly so that they get damaged during the move.

You can also use kraft brown paper to pack hardcover editions before putting them in boxes.

You have to exercise great caution when you deal with books of great value like first editions or photo albums with old photos. Put stiff cardboard in between each to keep the spines straight and to prevent any movement. Protect each book with paper and put them in a box that is well-padded. Use foam chips or bubble wrap to line the box before each book is packed.

Hardcover editions and paperbacks need to be packed flat and stacked. They have to put into the box spine first with paper edges facing up. You should be careful not to pack books with the paper edges facing down and spines. It causes pages to bend and books to warp.

Make sure that you dont dump books one after the other at odd angles.

If there is extra space remaining, fill it up with wadded-up paper and bubble wrap because books might shift around during transit.

Don't forget to label the boxes with books. Don't stack boxes haphazardly without securing them in the moving truck.

Looking for movers? The ideal way is to search online where you can get detailed listings if you include the name of the place you are moving to. For instance, Hartford moving professionals or movers in Providence can provide you with relevant results.
