Keep the system armed when you are paying less attention, such as when outdoors in the back yard, when you are not expecting guests, when you will be showering and are home alone, and particularly when the family is asleep.

Home invaders generally use the front door. They may kick it in or use another method of surprising you. The home alarm system offers them a little surprise of their own to be greeted with.

Do not be afraid to ask who it is when you hear a knock on the door and certainly do not be afraid to not open your door.

Be certain that your doors have secure locks and chain locks. Deadbolt methods are the best means to secure your door against intrusion. In addition, consider adding a security system or a monitored alarm system of some variety.

While there is certainly some expense incurred, what is more worth spending money on than an alarm system that protects your home and family?
