Martial art is an art of fighting or combating of two opponents

. The aim of this combat is to defeat the opponent physically and to defend itself from threats. Martial arts have its positive aim. It has theories and beliefs that have to be followed. There are different kinds of martial arts; also they have different underlying theories and beliefs. Many martial arts have been used as competition sports. They are under the category of combat sportssuch as taekwondo, karate and judo. Now, if you are inspired to be like world famous Jet Li and Jackie Chan, the do your part by engaging in martial arts. But before that, there are some things that need to be considered. Listed below are tips you must look at when engaging in martial arts.

Have yourself examined by your physician if you are capable to do martial arts. Most people with weak heart and strength are discouraged to enroll in this activity.

Ask yourself if you are really capable to do this. Can you see yourself performing the techniques?

Expect a big budget for the equipments. If you cannot afford it, you may borrow from friends who did martial arts before.


Choose a martial art style you like. There is a hard style and a soft style. You may also try engaging in many martial arts if you really love to.

You may also consider the interest of the culture you grew up in. If you want to respect the interest of your culture, then engage in a martial art your ancestors have been through.

Consider how effective the martial art is. Can you use this during self defense? Or just plainly the art of combating?

Does the environment of your martial arts club suit you as a person? Are they having a healthy competition?

Most of all, you need to check the capability of your teacher. Is this person legible to teach you? His degrees or standings academically do not really matter, as long as he is a qualified expert who can train people safely and right.
