Choosing a niche:
Finding something to market is perhaps the biggest stumbling block. One free resource that is helpful is the Google Keyword Tool. If you have an idea of what people might want to buy, you can go to Google Keyword Tool to see if there is traffic. You can get instructions on how to use the Keyword Tool at Google, but here are the key things to looks for to see if a niche can be profitable:
1. 1,000 or more Exact Match keyword per month (example: [blue widget] is exact)
2. Adwords Cost Per Click is more than $1.00. That means advertisers are paying good money to be seen.
3. Go to Google to search to see if websites are competitive in your niche.

None of the top websites domains are not exact match for keyword (example: bluewidget.com)
You can download a free plug-in for Firefox called SEOquake. Once installed, you can get info on PR rank and page backlinks in your Google search.
Domain Name:
Once you find the niche, get a domain that contains your keyword. Try to get a .com, .net or .org instead of the lesser known ones like .info, .us etc. The .com, .net and .org type domains tend to get better results in Google search than the others. If the keyword is already taken and it doesn't show up in the first page of google, you can add words like "the" or "now" or one or two dashes.
Building A Site:
Assuming you have a webhosting account, you can set up a Wordpress website and create five original articles for the site. The look of the site does not matter as long as the content you create is useful for your reader.

This will be key to getting your site visible in the search engines. If you are persistent with these efforts, your site will eventual rank near or at the top of Google for your keyword and traffic will start to accelerate.

There are many affiliate programs that you can use to help earn money. Google Adsense, Clickbank, Commission Junction and Linkshare are just a few of the popular affiliate programs that internet marketers use.
