You may also want to add a kit that contains chemicals to the water to help keep it clear and blue.

After you have drained the pump, turn it on for a second to remove the water from the veins of the impeller. If you can, take the pump indoors to protect it from the winter. If the above ground pool has a chemical feeder, you need to allow the chemicals, bromine and chlorine tablets, run out of the chemical feeder. Then, simply drain the chemical feeder.
