Titan For Youthful Skin

Undergoing a Titan laser procedure can tighten loose

, sagging skin and fix wrinkles by stimulating new collagen production. It is similar to Pelleve and Frexel in its non-invasive infrared technology. Besides its use on facial skin, Titan can also be useful in tightening abdominal skin, the skin around the knees, the arms, inner thighs and along the jaw line.

Titan uses infrared light to heat an area of collagen that is about one to two millimeters under the skin's surface, sometimes a bit larger. It also denatures the collagen. The laser will in turn cool the skin's outer surface in order to avoid damage there, where it would be visible to the eye. This works in a similar way to other laser techniques similar to Titan.

During the procedure, a thin layer of gel is smoothed onto the skin's surface to help with the movement of the laser instrument. A Titan laser will then be passed over the skin's area to be treated. It will deliver heat to the underlying dermal layer, causing the collagen to contract and tighten, thereby encouraging new growth of collagen which will smooth and refresh the epidermal or outer layer of skin. Titan can also be used in conjunction with Botox injections for a further reduction of wrinkles. The heat essentially "wounds" a portion of the dermal layer, instigating a healing process which produces new collagen.

Anywhere from one to six treatments using the Titan laser technology are needed, with each treatment given one month apart. Any skin treatment, even a non-invasive one such as Titan, should be administered by a profession that is certified by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery or the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery

It is not useful if there is too much loose skin or fat in the area already.

There is a small risk of infection and/or scarring.

Patients can combine this procedures with Botox for a better results. Botox has been used clinically for various purposes since 1989. It is actually a purified version of botulinum toxin, a bacterial substance that can be used to treat humans medicinally. Its main course of action is that it decreases muscle activity by blocking the release of acetylcholine.
