However, on the downside, it means paying a commission to the real estate agent when the house is sold.

Secondly, if the homeowner understands what it takes to sell a house, such as making small improvements to make the house more appealing, then certainly selling your home yourself is a great decision. On the flipside, if the homeowner believes that the house is ready to go, then they probably need the opinion of the real estate agent. These agents know exactly what potential buyers will be looking for, thus they know when a small leak may need to be fixed or walls painted. It is these sorts of things that many homeowners do not remember to do, and it does affect the rate at which their house is sold.

Lastly, calculating an asking price for your home is a difficult conclusion to get to. Many times those that sell their homes ask an outlandish price, even for a luxury home located in the Doheny Estates area. This is where a real estate agent really comes in helpful. They know the market, and they know just how much you are going to get for your house realistically.

Whichever option you choose, just make sure that it suits you. If you know that you need professional help, then do not waste your time in selling your house yourself and go straight for a real estate agent.
