AirTrain: Connects Newark Airport to NJ Transit and Amtrak trains that can take you right into Manhattan. Quicker than a cab and affordable, in $11.50 (one-way) will bring you from EWR to Penn Station. Refer to the schedule to find connecting trains. The service is daily available from 5am to 2a.m. (local time).

Taxis: These have metered fares (and tolls) so from Newark to any place in Manhattan, approx $50-75. They're usually available easily. There is an additional charge if driver handles passenger luggage over 24 inches. The rates are based per car, and not per passenger. Taxis to Newark are relatively more expensive because of the $15 surcharge of a NYC Taxi to Newark Airport.

Car Services: Can be prearranged to pick you up from Airport or can be called once the flight lands down. Very feasible if waiting in line is to be avoided or a large group is to travel. In this case a van or limousine can be arranged.

Private Shuttles: Many companies offer private shuttles to Manhattan. One such company is Go Airlink NYC that offers shared travels from JFK ($18 per person) and also private travel for groups of upto 11 passengers ($64-133 per transfer). Available 24/7. Another company is Newark Liberty Airport Express with services available 4.00-10.00a.m. These shuttles leave every 20 minutes and have a fare of $13 (one-way) and $22 (round-trip) with 1 free less than 16 child.

SuperShuttle: Also available 24/7, provides door-to-door service. No reservations for Newark-Manhattan ride but necessary for round-trip. Fares are $15-19 depending upon destination. Refer to their website for more details.

Rental Cars: Renting cars is not recommended as it is most expensive and way to travel, parking difficult to find and is expensive, so only useful of much of travel is outside the main metropolitan. Navigation is also required.
