Too Late For An Orthodontic Upgrade

As a child I somehow skipped the orthodontist entirely

. My brothers one older, one younger, each had braces but if my general dentist was to be believed there was not a reason in the world to consider braces. Orthodontics of course is a vital part of many kids' maturing process. They feel a little awkward and uncomfortable and then as time marches by they realize it was worth the trouble. My brothers both have beautiful teeth these days, I on the other hand do not. I wonder sometimes if my chompers would be in better shape had we gotten a second opinion on the importance of orthodontics from some other dentist. My parents have begun to rethink things as well. My mother recently commented that she wished I had had braces at a younger age, which of course made me wish the same even more.

These days of course I could go out and get some orthodontists to consider the benefits of braces or an invisalign as an adult. This is something I consider more and more each day and one of these days I will likely show up in the office of my local orthodontist. Sadly a part of me can not help but feel a bit like things might have already gotten away from me. It is a little depressing to be nearing thirty and considering your dental hygiene up til now to have been something of a failure.

Still I am do get a little boost to my general level of confidence simply by virtue that I have a chance to turn the ship around and make things right. Knowing that adults now get braces to adjust the damages of time on your teeth makes me feel like perhaps taking this opportunity and the clarity of knowing mistakes may have been made to reassess my orthodontic short comings. If I do get braces I will have to figure out a way to pay for them and of course there will be the discomfort to contend with, but at this point it is an option I can consider.

I am very eager to fix my teeth. Not that things are so bad but I just feel like up til now I have been living with a mouth full of just good enough. I want straight pearly whites and I want my chance at being great again. I do not know if an orthodontist can provide me with all of that but at the very least one should be able to straighten out these teeth and brighten up my smile. With a better smile I might even bring myself to smile a little more often.
