Bonding: The method whereby composite or porcelain/ceramic materials are fused to teeth

.

Bonding can be regarded as chilly welding. Strength is excellent.

Composite: A type of fabric used to interchange missing dental structure. It is a extremely specialized strengthened plastic. Composite is the closest materials to pure enamel developed to date.

Cap/crown (back and front tooth): A kind of restoration that covers all the dental. Used when most or all surfaces of a tooth have been broken or when most power is needed. A cap or crown can be product of gold, porcelain fused to gold (PFM) or all ceramic. PFM's often are the cause of black discolorations seen at the gum line. I choose bonded all ceramic caps/crowns for my patients.

Onlay (again teeth only): Much like a cap or crown however requires considerably less trimming of the tooth. Although not completely vital, the onlay often covers your entire biting floor of the tooth. Beforehand, onlays have been solely fabricated in gold. The advent of newer, stronger porcelain makes it potential for onlays to be very aesthetic. Bonded all ceramic onlays are my first selection for restoring a back dental when the tooth is too damaged for a bonded composite filling.

Veneer: A bonded cosmetic restoration, veneers can cowl simply the surface and fringe of a tooth or can resemble a three/four crown depending on the quantity of change necessary. Veneers are made from composite, porcelain or a combination of the two. Veneers can be divided into two sub-types:

Direct veneers- Composite bonded straight onto the teeth.

Indirect veneers- Made within the laboratory of porcelain/ceramic materials and then bonded onto the teeth.

Cosmetic Imaging: Pc generated predictions of enhancements potential with cosmetic dental treatment. Imaging is obtainable at Dr. Daytime's office.

Bleaching: Use of peroxide (not bleach!) gels to remove pigments from teeth. Basic agreement exists within the literature that bleaching doesn't harm enamel. Tooth office and "at home" techniques are available.

Cosmetic Recontouring: Minor adjustments to the form and dimension of teeth to reinforce the great thing about smiles.

Bonded Restoration: Any process which replaces or provides to pure tooth construction via the bonding process. Bonding back teeth is highly desirable as a consequence of doing so significantly increases strength. Previous style silver (amalgam) fillings don't bond well and are normally not bonded.
