Toothaches Are One Of The Many Major Sources Of Pain That May Be Serious
Toothaches are one of the many major sources of pain that may be serious enough to
deserve a surgical treatment and cause the patient major distress and discomfort. They are mainly caused by tooth decay as, which is a result of poor hygiene. Whether you don't brush and floss properly or you simply just eat unhealthy food. There are various treatment options that deal with toothaches. After a check-up is completed and the dentist has considered all possible routes of action they will decide upon surgery. One of these options, and often known to be the most common of dental treatments is a root canal treatment.
Since nobody wants to lose any of their teeth, there is a huge preference for a root canal treatment opposing to the actual extraction of the diseased tooth. The root canal procedure is all about cleaning the infected teeth. The tooth's pulp which is the soft part within the root canal of the tooth is extracted from within the tooth so that all the diseased matter is removed. The extraction of the pulp is necessary to avoid further infection and to clean the tooth effectively.
When extracting the pulp, the dentist will try and make sure that the procedure is as painless as it can be, after all you do not want to be in great amounts of pain when undergoing a treatment. A local anaesthesia can be used to make the tooth and the gums surrounding the tooth numb. The anaesthesia works to keep the patient from feeling any of the pain associated with the procedure, and also helps to alleviate any anxiety which is common in many dental procedures.
Once the dentist has removed all the damaged tissues, the tooth is then cleaned and disinfected. This is done in order to avoid further infection. After the cleaning and disinfecting of the tooth has been completed the dentist will fill in the hole that was created for the removal of the infected pulp then they will seal it so that the risk of further infection is lowered even further. When the root canal treatment is done, it is a must to continue with the regular visits to the dentist and to keep an optimum level of dental care.
