Train horns can be installed in a regular vehicle and give the driver the ability to get recognized or to let people know they are in the area very quickly.

Before you decide that you want to command that kind of attention as well and run out to select a train horn and have it installed in your private vehicle, you have to make sure there aren't guidelines on how loud it can be within your local community. The last thing you want to do is become a nuisance to your neighbors or have someone call the law on you. If there are guidelines on how loud a horn can be in your local area, then you have to abide by those rules.

It is also very important that you use the train horn responsibly. Blaring a train horn in the middle of the night or in a residential neighborhood can lead to problems with the law in the area as well as upset neighbors. Can you imagine being woken up from a good sleep by the sound of a train outside of your house? This can not only be annoying but it also could cause someone a serious medical condition if you scare them too badly.

The highway or a very busy road with a lot of cars traveling at higher speeds is definitely not a responsible place to make use of a train horn. These horns are demanding of attention and could cause other drivers to jerk at the wheel, turn their attention from the road, or otherwise take actions that might lead in an accident. The last thing you want on your shoulders is knowledge that you caused a pile-up or an accident that took someone's life. Just make sure not to use your train horn on this type of road or while traveling on a freeway, no matter how slow the person in front of you may be going or whose attention you may want to grab.

Most people enjoy having a train horn on their vehicle and find that their neighbors (especially children) enjoy having the sound around from time to time as well. Just select your horn carefully and consider how loud it will be before having it installed. Then use it with great care and discretion so you don't become the neighbor everyone would love to run out of town!

There are many train horn enthusiasts out there who will be drawn to you once they hear the sound that your personal vehicle can make. That said, there are also many people out there who do not enjoy the sound of a train horn and believe they shouldn't be used on a private car or truck. As long as you are using your train horn responsibly and being courteous to others who live in your community, you shouldn't have many problems.
