These companies are the most attractive companies to work in Nigeria today. They offer a modern, multinational employee culture based on strong vision and values. Also these companies are fairly large and offer a variety of positions and graduate/ trainee programmes for the fresh starter. They also offer relatively good pay packages which include medicals and pensions. In addition to this, they offer quality exposure to the global business environment and are good foundations for a chosen career.
Although there is no such thing as job security, these organizations operate fairly and their appraisal systems make it easy for performance evaluation, growth and stability.
In light of the recent happenings in the banking industry the banks are not top on the list of favorites and more graduates and experienced professionals are looking at the manufacturing industry, oil and gas and even insurance as alternatives. It is not easy to get a job in these areas as they mostly recruit through vacancies unlike the Banks who recruit almost on a monthly basis.
Before you leap at a job, check the history and back ground of the company, make sure you are knowledgable about their values and that they have a reasonable pedigree. Of course, taking into cognizance that there are some small scale organizations which are doing quite well and offer good pay packages and other benefits but are relatively unknown.
The important thing is to be open to experience and be willing to learn and the opportunities are there if you open your eyes to see them and grab them when they come.
There are also other equally great jobs with varying advantages from flexible hours to great pay. It all still depends on which of them will make you sleep at night(which one you'll be comfortable with).
