Each summer when school lets out, kids everywhere are so grateful for the break but they are not always sure what they want to do with the time

. Certainly sitting around the house, sleeping late, watching TV and playing video games has a lot of appeal, but youth travel programs have a lot of appeal too. This means they can actually go to exotic locations and can have a positive sociological impact at the same time

Here are some great summer travel ideas for students that they will definitely enjoy:

1. While going to the beach may be a great option, going to the beach in Nicaragua is an even better one. Going with a church group or student organization for a community service project provides kids with opportunities to visit beaches in countries they may not ordinarily get to enjoy. Plus, helping people to rebuild homes, build churches and other works makes it a win-win situation for everyone.

2. Costa Rica is another country where natural disasters have caused a lot of devastation. While helping the locals rebuild is important, so is being able to learn about the culture and the history of the country as well. With beautiful scenery, this is another great summer travel idea students will enjoy.

3. Peru is another country with great culture and history from the Incan ruins as well as the Peruvian markets that will give students the opportunity to learn about the great history, help build classrooms and playgrounds and even teach. They can even experience some excellent white water rafting on the Rio Urubamba.

4. A truly fantastic summer travel idea for students is to visit the island of Fiji to not only learn surfing and to snorkel in amazing waters but to help restore community schools or even assist with reef protection projects.

5. Puerto Rico is a fantastic place to visit with activities like sailing and kayaking as well as getting to visit San Juan but working on educational projects and conservation work is even more rewarding. Beautiful scenery, fantastic beaches and great community service projects makes this a great summer vacation.

Reaching for more than just a boring summer vacation isn't hard to do at all.
